Prinkipo is an ensemble based in New York City that blends the musical traditions of the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The ensemble includes Fuat Caner Tokgozol on oud, Gilbert Mansour on percussion, Ozlem Rozanitis on vocals, Sal Mamudoski on clarinet, Dila Oktay on kemenche, and Bashar Farran on bass. Their repertoire showcases a rich blend of maqams, rhythms, and various musical traditions from these regions, including rebetiko, traditional folk and classical music.Their music is a collection of traditional melodies, passed down through generations and shared across Turkiye, Greece, and the Eastern Mediterranean. These songs serve as living narratives, woven into the collective heritage of these regions, forming a rich sound atlas. Each performance is marked by expressive solos and spontaneous musical conversations. As a multicultural ensemble, Prinkipo’s sound is a celebration of cultural diversity and the timeless power of music to unite people.
