New York Ataturk Chorus, sponsored by Turkish and International Music Ensemble, is a group of volunteer and professional vocalists and instrumentalists, who perform Turkish and international music in the U.S.
The Chorus performs a rich collection of traditional and contemporary Turkish music accompanied by traditional Turkish instruments like oud and kanoon. Their repertoire employs harmony and orchestral arrangements infused by western sounds through the addition of international musical instruments like the guitar, piano, buzuki, accordion, and woodwinds.
New York Ataturk Chorus provides its members with choral training and music education aimed at expanding their musical abilities and achieving musical excellence. Through our social and cultural activities, we strive to build an inclusive and welcoming environment for our members, musicians and the enthusiasts.
Besides its concerts in the New York area, the New York Ataturk Chorus serves as a community chorus for Turkish New Yorkers, proudly performing on national holidays, commemorations and special occasions. The New York Ataturk Chorus also had the honor of performing with an amazing array of high-profile performers and artists, including Ara Dinkjian, Tamer Pinarbasi, Ismail Lumanovski, Yildiz Kenter, Talat Halman, and Incesaz.
The Chorus was founded by Nedim Katgi in 2008 and continues under the musical direction of Fuat Caner Tokgozol.
